Wheelchairs with Wings: FAQ's & Answers:
Four Easy Steps for Perth Travellers to take wheelchairs to Bali
Firstly thank you so much for your support ..
Below are photos of only some of the disabled children who are patiently waiting for their wheelchairs.
All these children have never received any aid and have only ever been laid flat on the ground, some for as long as 25 years. A lot of these children are fully aware but are trapped in paralyzed bodies in a country where very few help or understand.
LFC Endri Foundation is a new foundation and the only foundation supplying wheelchairs to a population of 4 million people. There are thousands of forgotten disabled children, and with your help we are sparking change. A wheelchair for these children is life changing for the child who can sit up and see the smiles and & parents who get so much more freedom to go about their work etc Click Here to see Endri's huge list of waiting forgotten disabled children that you will be helping.
See below the information & steps to take. Again thank you so much, Ed Scheepmaker

FAQ and 4 Steps to Change a Life Significantly:
Step 1: Join Wheelchairs With Wings and learn how we work. Click here & join our 'Wheelchair with Wings' Facebook Group. Here you can read the stories from other 'Winged Angels' and see the results. Also join Lombok Forgotten Children - Endri Foundation Emergency Aid Facebook Group Step 2: Wheelchair Perth Western Australia Pick up. Q: What do I need to do to help with this Wheelchairs With Wings project? A: Basically we need for you to pick up a Wheelchair, Mobility aid or AID package from me (Edgar Scheepmaker) in Palmyra, Perth. Near Fremantle. Take one wheelchair to Bali as 'CHECK IN' luggage. You will need to pay this cost. This is part of our “Chain of responsibility” These chairs have a Aid value of around $2,000 in kind, and our commitment to the wheelchair provider - Rotary Funded "Wheelchairs For Kids"is we take great care to ensure these get delivered safely to Endri in Lombok. Q: Where and when can the wheelchair be picked up? Can you deliver it to me? A: YOU will need to contact ME (by Facebook Private Message only) around 7 to 14 days before your flight. Let me know the date you are flying I will let you know what wheelchairs or aid is available at that time. We private message a bit and agree on what to take and a time when you can come and pick up. You are then given the pick up address. Step 3: Wheelchairs With Wings. Q: How much do the wheelchairs weigh and what does it cost? A: They weigh 27 kg and are about the size of 2 medium to large suitcases. The box measures 900mm x 480mm x 380mm. Generally a two person lift. Costs vary slightly depending on which airline you are flying with and your fare type / ticketing. For Example: Air Asia charge around $35 for 30Kg of luggage. You are allowed 40KG CHECK IN baggage on Air Asia. If you book 40Kg you will have 13 Kg left for your own personal clothing etc (plus cabin baggage allowance). Click Here. Virgin generally allow 23kg and may charge for an extra bag. They do however have a sponsorship request. It may take a few weeks to arrange. Click here. If you are flying on another airline check on their website for more detail. Go online and PRE PAY this amount. The airline might charge more it you try it at the airport. At check in: Wheelchairs go through as part of your check in luggage. A polite and friendly smiling 'haggle' by saying it's for charity might work, however part of your chain of responsibility is to absorb this cost and 'make the wheelchair fly'. TIP: Traveling in a group? You can 'bundle' your total check in baggage allowance. Q: I have some clothes and other items I want to take as donations as well, is this OK? A: Q: Where can your effort make the greatest bang for your buck? A: Wheelchairs for those that can’t walk and lifesaving surgery for those with cancer. CLOTHES and SOFT TOY V's HARDWARE CHARITY- LFC Emergency Aid is just that…getting the VERY needy the EMERGENCY AID they need. This means the PRIORITY is supplying Wheelchairs, Mobility devices, Prosthetic Arms and Legs and MEDICAL Treatment for the sick. There are 100's maybe 1000’s of what would be considered in our country 'emergency’ cases in Lombok. At the moment soft toys add little value to our EMERGENCY case load. Dealing with this can take away ENDRI’s and our time and focus on helping the very poor and very sick. By all means take the clothes etc but if you are paying for 'checkin' baggage the best value for your $...is to take a wheelchair. It will add $2000 in value to the lives of just one family over the life of just one wheelchair. I trust you understand this is our PRIORITY. Q: What about customs in Bali? A: We have had minor issues in the earlier days with customs. They like to try it on and test ones resolve. This shouldn't be a problem now as the customs officers now see what we are doing and often waive you through. These are un motorised wheelchairs and there is NO tax or import duty payable. The box will have a Delivery docket on it. It shows the YAYASAN symbol for Endri Foundation. It also has written in Indonesian, "Good things Happen To Good People". If you strike a problem, show them this and smile. Be patient if they open the box as it is their right to do so. There is a wheelchair, soft toy and blanket inside. Explain its for sick children's charity. Amal sakit anak-anak. We have an official letter to aid this process. Please PM me if you need a copy. For your own peace of mind on 'what's inside ;-)" ...you are also within your rights to open and inspect the box prior to departure. Please just tape it back up securely as it has a long journey with up to 15 different legs to get to the child in need. Q: Photo tracking - Why do I need to take a photo and post it on Facebook? A: We are ALL on Facebook & thus supporting you ALL the way, until it reaches the disabled child. Photo's, group support messages and share's expands the experience and our reach. Importantly it helps us photo track the wheelchair. It makes it easy & is a transparent way for members and sponsors. We are also working on a tracking App. "LFC has to be the smartest and most cost-effective charity model ever created. Addressing the issues of liability, identifying the traps, gaps and pitfalls. Advocacy as a key action is important." Step 4: Wheelchairs 'With Water Wings' - Bali to Lombok When in Bali we must HAND DELIVER personally to EITHER: Surfer Girl Shops: Click here or see BELOW. Surfer Girl Legian Jl Legian 138 Kuta Surfer Girl from Summerland Seminyak Square Jl Laksamana Oberoi, Seminyak Surfer Girl from Summerland Kuta Square Kuta Surfer Girl from Summerland Discovery Shopping Mall Jalan Kartika Plaza. Bali Surf Nusa Dua TDC Area, Nusa Dua IMPORTANT: PRIVATE MESSAGE or SMS - AYU WILYA on +62 812 39185564 Telling her which Surfer Girl Shop & how many pcs while dropping them off OR... Gili Getaway Fast Boat office in Serangan harbor: The office is about half way between Kuta and Sanur… A 25 to 30 min drive. YOU must HAND DELIVER. If these are say, sent by say a taxi from your hotel to the office with no one with them the can go "missing". (Sadly it happened to us before) From there it goes to Gili Trawangan where Bryce at Gili T Resort picks it up, safely stores it then takes it on his boat to mainland Lombok and trucks it to his wife’s Spa in Sengigi where Endri and his team collect them for specialised 'fitting'. IT'S UP TO YOU and Privacy Note: In this 'Chain of responsibility"... We all have businesses or jobs or families. We...as core supporters do a LOT of messaging and simultaneous arrangements going on with many people. I / We don't always recall everyone or everything all the time. I some time's miss things. Thus it is essential that you please, please PRIVATE MESSAGE with a reminder the day or two before you plan to pick it up. Sorry, unfortunately we can't deliver it to you or meet you at the airport with the wheelchair. This helps us balance and minimise the impact on our personal and family time. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROJECT FROM PERTH...... I just want to PERSONALLY THANK YOU for offering to take a wheelchair for sick and needy LOMBOK kids. Thank you, Edgar Scheepmaker facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ed.scheepmaker.9 Phone Ed in Perth: +61 412 566267 Email: [email protected] |
At the moment Endri, supported by Wheelchairs for Kids Foundation Australia is the only foundation supplying & fitting disabled wheelchairs in Lombok, Donation Support:Endri has just finished training three new disabled wheelchair technicians who each locate children and fit many disabled wheelchairs each week. About - together with Project Funders: Wheelchairs for Kids Foundation, BY THE END OF THE 2015 WE PLAN TO MATCH 100 CHILDREN WITH A LIFE CHANGING WHEELCHAIRS, and for transparency share a happy photo of each of them with their new wheelchair raising $98 per child.
History: In 2014 'the priority was pain 'No Lombok Child Should Die Hungry or in Pain' & during this start up phase we were under resourced (and still are in many ways). Hard realities meant we are always walking walk away from some of the lower priority situations.
A lot of these situations, were some very badly handicap children whose lives will be significantly improved if we can get specialist wheelchairs for them. Through Robert & Solemen and Endri's new start up team, we now have a sustainable connection to Wheelchairs for Kids and the ROTARY CLUB of Scarborough. We don't have to walk away and Endri can deliver these life changing chairs. We look forward to all the photos.
